Juan Torcoletti showed-up in Uzès for the MONDIAL in 1997. I hadn't seen him since New York in 1994. Juan did sketches of dogs which he sold out-right in the heart of Tribeca on the doorstep of Dean and Deluca on Spring Street. Not always very agreeable but his drawings are. I'm not really sure why he came to see me or if it was to see me at all but he got on very well with my friends taking long walks with us everyone bleating in Italien which seemed to be the natural universal solution to who did or did not speak French or English. Eventually he got on rather well with my friend Allaye O'Co. And then ploof ! he left without a word. I went to the bus station and arrived just in time to see the doors close, Juan's wiry body settled in for the ride to Nîmes his dogged no-guilt regard looking right at me. He seemed actually pleased with himself, waved and signaled that I was too fat. I haven't heard a word from him since.
No that's not true. I knew that he had bought his studio in New York on Hudson Street. The same building as Robert DeNiro. After Ground Zero I tried to reach him by phone but the lines were down. He returned home to Argentina, or so I heard. Twenty pounds later...

All thoughts fly their worth in gold - a lowly metal. peter Blegvad wrote a song about it. And then does water have memory ? Gianni Ragusa believes it to be so...and so remembers black dog.

This Old BLue Bus sight on blogger is a good way to set things right. The music is fantastic and Ed has an archive that boggles the mind.
Just a working shlub who makes a difficult day finish well. I propose that more folks get on board the BLUS BUS for a great musical ride.

dernierement je me branche a la musique traditionnelle genre "down home".

A suivre...

Ten yeaars later and the author of Black Dog shows up in Uzes. Contrary to anything I may have felt ten years earlier, I must admit that he did come to see me and this by way of Black Dog, finding the theater listing at the Tourist Office. Dogged determination.
We're all growing and changing. This is good. And we spent a very lovely morning talking over coffee and overhauling the last ten years. There's something of the romantic in his heart which belies his regard. I guess behind the scowl lies the heart of a a poet. And this time, the poet came to visit.
